100 miles in a month: how to make it happen

One hundred miles in a month sounds huge. Broken down, it is about 3.3 miles (5.4 km) a day over 30 days, or 25 miles a week. Walk it, run it, ride it, or mix all three.

At a glance

  • About 3.3 miles (5.4 km) a day over 30 days
  • About 25 miles a week
  • Walk, run, ride or mix all three

Make the maths work for you

  • Every day: about 3.3 miles. A brisk walk to work and back can cover a good chunk.
  • Five days a week: about 4.6 miles a day, with weekends off.
  • Weekend warrior: shorter weekday walks and two longer weekend outings.

Keep it going

  • Log as you go so you can see the total climb. Watching the number move is half the fun.
  • Front-load the first week to leave room for rainy days.
  • Rest when you need to. Sore is normal; pain is a signal to stop.
  • Bring friends. Group miles go faster.
